This Is The Best Christmas

This year, as with every year, millions of people will dust off their favorite songs to put them "in the mood" for the holiday season. By next year (2008) a new Christmas standard will be included with the favorites of people around the world. This is the Best Christmas, with its wonderful melody that seems instantly familiar and its heartfelt message of gratitude for being together at Christmastime, is destined to become an instant nostalgic classic in the tradition of White Christmas and Chestnuts Roasting on a Open Fire. Because of a delay in producing their holiday CD, songwriters Kathi Carey and David Manship are able to present a special holiday opportunity for charity organizations. Their holiday sampler -- a compilation of four artists singing This is the Best Christmas in different styles -- can be used as a fundraising item and as an opportunity for local radio and direct sales possibilities may result in an unexpected holiday bonus for you and your organization.

If your organization chooses to participate, here's how it works:
You generate interest and take orders for the CD. We suggest a retail price of $10.00 plus $2.50 postage/handling. However, you may charge any price you choose. We will fulfill orders at $3.00 per disk, with a minimum of 10. Shipping/handling to you is included in that price. We will ship orders to you, which you will then fulfill to your customers. It's that easy. Your effort can be as simple as sending out an email or as involved as doing radio interviews, TV and print. With enough notice, at least one of our artists can be available to participate in radio or TV interviews.

Fund-raising Suggestions for This Is The Best Christmas:
- Email your existing database and introduce them to this wonderful, new holiday classic;
- Contact local radio stations to talk about your organization and how the public can order CD's that will benefit your group during this holiday time;
- Work with your local shopping mall management to have them play an announcement of their cooperation with your organization while they play the song (CD) which can be purchased at the information desk;
- Work with local merchants or businesses who might play the song or promote your organization as the place to purchase the CD;
- Share your suggestions with us and we will add them to this list.

Kathi Carey. Multi-hyphenate...multi-talented: actress, writer, director, producer, dancer, artist, pianist, singer, songwriter. Her musical talent began to be expressed at a young age through classical piano, culminating in a performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 (The Elvira Madigan) with the Sequoia Symphony, the Chopin Piano Award and the BofA Award for Fine Arts for the state of California. As a singer, Kathi has worked the main showrooms in Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe and Reno with celebrities such as Bill Cosby, Roy Clarke and Peggy Fleming, to name a few. Having written hundreds of original compositions and arrangements, Kathi and her husband Dave are pleased to introduce you to a new Christmas classic This Is The Best Christmas. When Kathi and Dave wrote this song they had spent close to 20 Christmases together. They met singing in a band and music has always been a big part of their lives together. During a Christmas program at their church a friend gave a talk titled "This Christmas is the Best Christmas." Two hours after church was over Kathi and Dave had written this song. It just goes to show that your mother was right -- you should never fall asleep during church.

Kathi and Dave wanted to use singers on their CD who were great musicians as well as great friends. Kevin Bachelder is both of those. Kevin moved to Los Angeles in 2001 after graduating from Berklee College of Music in Boston and he also recently received a Master's degree from the prestigious USC jazz program, with an emphasis on vocal performance. There he studied with local and national vocal jazz sensation Tierney Sutton and renowned bassist and vocalist Kristin Korb. He recently sang background vocals for Steve Miller and has been showcased at various Los Angeles venues. Kevin has a unique sound that combines blues and rock vocal sensibilities with great songwriting. Kathi and Dave love to sing with him at church.

Gerald White completed college with a Bachelor's degree in Classical Piano and a Master's degree in Jazz and Commercial Music. He then moved to Los Angeles and "hit the pavement," attempting to promote his music. Through constant work for artistic exposure and with the aid of interested artists, he found success as a vocalist/musician in the session world. Some of his most recent credits include The Simpsons, Happy Feet, Spiderman 3, Rocky Balboa, the 2007 Academy Awards, the 2007 Grammy Awards and a live performance opening for the United Nations World Peace Conference in Washington, D.C. He currently teaches music classes at AFTRA and the Screen Actors Guild and coaches private voice in Santa Monica. Kathi has enjoyed working with him for the last year.

Bill Horn got his first guitar for Christmas when he was in the 6th grade and he started performing at the age of eleven at Disneyland, the Air Force Academy in Colorado and Grace Cathedral in San Francisco. Bill joined a Texas country-rock band called Cahoots in 1974 and in 1977 the prestigious Buddy Magazine's "Most Promising Newcomer" award went to Cahoots. Bill also started playing sessions and has appeared on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show backing Kim Carnes, in addition to having his band, "Fort Worth West" receive the European Country Music Association's "Band of the Year 1999" for their debut CD. Bill also received the California Country Music Association's "Lead Guitar Player of the Year 1997" award. Bill has been a good friend of Dave and Kathi's for a couple of years now and we're honored to have his rendition of our song on our CD.
